Job Summary:
Under general supervision the Radio Station Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day management of KVNG 88.7 programming and technical operations.

The station is a student-led operation as part of the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT)

The East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) is a public Career and Technical Education District (CTED) providing tuition-free career and technical education (CTE) programs to high school students – public, charter, and home-schooled – and tuition-based programs to adults who reside in 11 school districts in the East Valley of the Phoenix metropolitan area.

EVIT offers over 40 CTE programs at four centralized campuses. Centralized campus programs provide two to four hours of hands-on training every day and prepare students for professional certification and licensing exams. EVIT students who complete their training have a 98 percent high school graduation rate and 90 percent on average are in jobs related to their training, college or the military within a year. Two out of three EVIT students go on to college.

Essential Functions:
 Oversees the day-to-day management of the station’s programming and technical operations to include
educational briefings for external groups, development of informational materials to promote and inform
business and industry of educational and related programs.
 Program and manage station’s automation system.
 Maintain station formats and music playlists in accordance with station guidelines; directs all station
 Host on-air morning show
 Plan, implement and oversee station imaging, broadcast, and promotional activity master calendar,
including scheduling of talent for station promotional appearances and live broadcasts.
 Oversees all commercial production, voice tracking and live on air duties.
 Performs a variety of clerical/administrative assistant services including word processing correspondence;
composes, keyboards, edits and prepares various final correspondence. Ensures correspondences are
distributed to students/parents, appropriate staff and State Department entities following district policy.
 Prepares documents including letters, orders, requisitions, memos, reports and forms following district and
statute policies and procedures.
 Coordinates and arranges for appointments; maintains schedules and calendars for radio station. May
determine priorities, length of appointments and meetings.
 Establish and maintain all department files and records in a confidential manner pursuant to district and
statute requirements; reviews documents for accuracy, completeness and conformation to established
procedures; file records and secures for the station.
 May perform research and prepare materials for use in committee and staff meetings; assists in the
preparation of a wide variety of reports as directed by the Assistant Principal; works closely with the
General Manager in assisting in the preparation of informational materials, etc.
 Organizes, purchases and maintains an inventory list of supplies and materials for radio station activities
and functions.
 Participates on school committees as determined.
 Attends meetings and trainings per requirements of the General Manager.
 Maintains station’s public information file per FCC requirements and updates, as needed, with all required
documentation and all public service actions participated in by the radio station.
 Coordinates and executes promotional appearance for station, EVIT RADIO, EVIT, its students and staff
members inside and outside of the scheduled hours. May be required to operate station and school
automobiles and equipment in execution of such duties.
 Various other duties that are requested by EVIT Administration for successful operation of EVIT’s radio
station, and general All Staff requirements.

Skills and Abilities:
 Possess strong organizational skills.
 Must be highly skilled and versatile with digital audio software and studio technical equipment.
 Competent in the use of computer networking and remote control access.
 Knowledge of FCC program rules.
 Knowledge of non-commercial/educational radio
 Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures including applicable computer operations and
software, i.e., Microsoft Office Suites, database management, etc.
 Knowledge of Facebook, Web-site, Twitter and various other multimedia operations
 Knowledge of record-keeping techniques and filing systems.
 Possesses effective written and verbal communication skills.
 Knowledge of standard office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, scanners etc.
 Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
 Ability to design and implement new forms and office procedures.
 Ability to collect and organize data and information.
 Must be tactful, have good interpersonal skills, sound judgment and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
 Ability to work and interact with a variety of different publics.
 Able to meet schedules and time-lines and to deal with stress caused by workload and deadlines.
 Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with teachers, the general public and other personnel.

Working Conditions:
 This position will work in a clean, well-lit office environment in a school setting. The position will work
Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. The employee will be provided with an office, desk, computer
workstation and a telephone. The employee hired for this position will spend 40% of work hours at a
computer workstation, sitting at the computer for extended periods of time and on the telephone.

Training and Experience:
 Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school or equivalent; completion of post-secondary
coursework in administrative assistant training; Bachelor’s degree in Management, Business or Education
 Three (3) years or more of experience in radio station operations
 Three (3) years or more experience as an on-air radio personality
 An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensing /Certification and Other Requirements:
 Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Verified Prints (IVP) fingerprint clearance card.
 Proof of immunization against or immunity to measles and rubella if born after January 1, 1957.
 The employee hired for this position will work a basic 40-hour workweek. Hours are 6:00am – 2:30pm, MondayFriday.

seeing, and repetitive motions.
