Media Systems Technician, KNXV/KASW


KNXV, Phoenix’s ABC Affiliate, is looking for a Media Systems Technician. This position supports all areas of media preparation as well as providing IT/Engineering helpdesk support to station personnel. This is a full-time position, including weekend days and primetime vacation fill-in as needed.



>  Align satellite and ENG receiver and receive systems.

>  Down-link satellite feeds with proper audio and video levels.

>  Responsible for dubbing commercials and programs into video servers with proper technical parameters.

>  Responsible for loading and playing back pre-recorded programs, promotional and news material.

>  Operate Crispin On-Air automation equipment, Master Control Switchers and Transmitter Remote Control.

>  Troubleshoot and respond to malfunctioning broadcast equipment needed for on-air operations.

>  Perform mid-level troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair/fixes for both hardware and software.

>  Ensure change management procedures are followed.

>  Equipment installations as needed, including working in computer flooring and on ladders.

>  Provide technical support for station personnel including: software, workstations, laptops, printers, tablets, and cell phones.

>  Able to make cables as needed for video, audio, and LAN.

>  Actively monitor network, voice, and video equipment ensuring prompt response to alarms.

>  Keep current with technology development, trends, and regulations in Broadcast and IT to ensure effectiveness and compliance.



>  Associates degree or equivalent experience will be considered.

>  2-3 years of experience in the field of Broadcast Television Engineering or IT Helpdesk.

>  2-3 years of experience in the field of Master Control, ABC experience preferred.

>  IT Certifications are strongly encouraged.



>  Ability to work within a team environment.

>  Advanced trouble shooting skills.

>  Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical materials.

>  Ability to interface with people spanning all levels of technical aptitude and business position.

>  Ability to work independently.

>  Strong attention to detail with proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver quality products in short timeframes required.



>  May be required to work a non-traditional schedule.

>  May be required to work at a station remote location.

>  Occasional driving required.
