I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.
The Weather/Anchor develops and presents weathercasts to attract the largest available audience to the station’s profitable newscasts. This position works with Producers to create the newscast. The Weather/Anchor covers news in the field, writes stories and edits and/or rewrites copy when needed.
Work performed is for all media platforms and initiatives, including for example: on-air, web, digital and social media.
II. Essential Job Functions
Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results
Prepare interesting and informative weathercasts.
Assist producer and alert newsroom to unusual weather systems in our viewing area.
Make public appearances on behalf of the station.
Assist in station promotions.
Other duties, as assigned.
III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
College degree in Meteorology, related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.
Five years experience as a weather anchor or meteorologist at a commercial or public TV station.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of weather, weather computers and what constitutes unusual weather in Arizona.
Must be able to communicate with a diverse audience.
Must know how to interact with anchors and reporters.
Must know how to adlib with weather maps and other graphic elements.
% Travel Required (Approximate): 10%
