SiriusXM to Buy Pandora for $3.5 Billion in Bid to Expand Reach

The satellite radio provider SiriusXM said on Monday that it would acquire the music streaming service Pandora Media for $3.5 billion, in a bid to corral listeners who don’t want to pay for premium channels.

Nielsen Brings Cross-Platform Ad Measurement to Local Markets

Nielsen said it is bringing its Total Audience measurement of ads and content to all 210 local markets. The new local measurement system combines Nielsen Digital Ad Ratings, Total Ad Rating and Digital Content Ratings.

Broadcasters Tackle ‘Attribution Gap’ At Radio Show

Bob Pittman and David Field took the stage at the Radio Show opener Tuesday, and in an interview with MSNBC anchor & NBC News correspondent Stephanie Ruhle, pointed out that radio doesn’t have an effectiveness problem, it has an attribution issue. With radio delivering a better ROI, Pittman argued that AM/FM is underpriced – and under-appreciated – by advertisers. But technology and data may help change the attribution obstacle.

NAB’s John David Receives 2018 National Radio Award At Radio Show

John David graciously accepted the 2018 National Radio Award at the Radio Luncheon during the 2018 Radio Show in Orlando Wednesday. He acknowledged colleagues in the broadcasting industry, friends, family—and, on a lighter note, “the advertisers and politicians who bought time on my radio stations in Joplin, MO, and to the banks that financed it all. It worked for all of us.”
