Broadcasters Raise Red Flag Over FCC’s C-Band Plans

The radio industry finds itself in a rare defensive position at the Federal Communications Commission under chairman Ajit Pai. The issue that’s causing concern is the FCC’s plan to expand use of C-band spectrum (3.7-4.2 GHz)—what’s commonly referred to as mid-band frequencies—by wireless companies. In a series of comments filed during the past several weeks, radio is urging the Commission to take very careful steps forward on the plan.

Cumulus Begins Its Next Chapter

Cumulus Media has successfully completed its financial restructuring. The news, which came just past 5pm Eastern Monday (6/4), means that the nation’s No. 2 radio broadcasting company by number of stations has fully emerged from Chapter 11 protection under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, and has reduced its debt by “more than $1 billion.”
