ABA continues advocacy for marijuana advertising clarity in 2022
The ABA plans to continues its advocacy efforts this year for marijuana advertising access.
We’ve joined with other state broadcasting associations, asking Congress to provide legal clarity on advertising rules and help us close the gap between state-level marijuana laws that decriminalize its use and federal marijuana laws that continue to ban it.
This is potentially a long-haul effort.
We’ve formed a “Safe Advertising Coalition” focused entirely on clarity to the conflicting marijuana rules so that stations have the ability to accept or decline this business without fear of legal uncertainty!
This coalition is being led by the Washington lobbying group Klein/Johnson — and as part of the effort, we’ve created a one-page summary of our ask to Congress. You can read it here.
As most of you know, Arizona is one of 17 states that has now passed laws legalizing both medical and recreational marijuana use.
Our effort includes a number of potential solutions, all of which are under evaluation in Congress right now.
