As Arizona’s population continues to climb, so too does the ranking for our three TV markets. For the new television season, Phoenix remains designated market area (DMA) #11, but picks up an estimated additional 275,000 TV households.
Tucson grows to DMA #64, picking up an estimated 60,000 new TV households.
Yuma falls to DMA #166, but picks up an estimated 15,000 new TV households.
The Nielsen definition of a local TV household is a home with at least one operable TV set that is able to receive audio and video through a cable, satellite, or over-the-air source, or through streaming video from an internet source. Broadband only (BBO) homes are being included in the Local TV definition starting this year, driving many of this year’s changes in Universe Estimates.
Looking at ONLY Hispanic households, Phoenix ranks #8 for the new television season, Tucson ranks #26, and Yuma ranks #39.
